First Impressions: MAC to the Beach Collection

So if you follow me on Twitter... you'll know that I got an invite and went to the unveiling of MAC's new MAC to the Beach Collection Event. It was really fun! There were drinks (strong alcoholic beachy drinks) and finger foods, plus some sexy male models that were all bronzed up :D
This collection was pretty big. It included a normal type of range of products (blushes, lip liners, eye kohls, lipglasses, lipsticks, eyeshadows and nail polishes) then there was a second part that was all bronzing and highlighting products.
Right of the bat I can tell you I skipped the second part totally. I do think the bronzers were nice but I am in love with my Nars Laguna and Bahama Mama by The Balm so I didn't think I needed anymore. Then there were cream blushes and those to me were a no-no! In my opinion I just don't think cream bronzers are a smart idea... I dunno... I wouldn't want my bronzer having the option of melting off my face. The Bronze Body Oil was actually very nice but it's not something I would use often enough to need. Then there were lustre drops which are highlighters and as much as they are truly gorgeous, I just have so many highlighters so I didn't want to pick up something I didn't think would get a lot of use.
On to the first part of this collection and the things I did purchase!!!

~Hipness Blush~

This blush is absolutely gorgeous and like nothing I have! It's a pinky peachy coral colour which I am loving this season. If you have and love Instant Chic Blush (which I know many people do) this is similar but more vibrant so on days you want more of a pop on your cheeks... this is the way I'll go!
The other blush was a very nice bronze tone that I think would look amazing on darker skin tones.
There also was the Marine Life Highlight thingy and it was gorgeous. However, I personally liked the colour of Hipness Blush better then it when it was swirled together. Also, if the gold overspray stuck around and wasn't gone after a few uses, I would have liked it more but it disappears quickly. To me it is just a big and overpriced blush with a pretty seahorse on it. That is just my opinion, I know a lot of people love it but to each their own right?!

~Sweet & Punchy Eyeshadow~

.
I knew I wanted this eyeshadow as soon as a saw it when photos of this collection came out. It is a fun and bright yellow toned green! It is so stunning and I am pumped to do a look with it! For sure a must have for those that have large eyeshadow collections.
The other eyeshadows were quite nice and went well with the collection however two of them are permanent colours so there is no need to run out for them. The other two were in the coral and peach tones, very pretty but not extremely unique in my opinion.

~Flurry of Fun~

Wow wow wow wow... yep, that is how I explain this colour. Seeing it online previous to seeing it in person I thought it was unique and had it on my list of things to buy. I guess I was right because as soon as a swatched it, I knew I needed it. When I left the store and put it on I was in love. It's a coral-orange colour but has teal shimmers in it which is amazing! It looks gorgeous on and I honestly think it would look amazing on all skin tones!
The other lipglasses were nice as well but they were both pinky so because I have so many colours like that I just passed on them to be smart with my money.
There were also some really nice lipsticks but I have so many lipsticks so I actually just stayed away from them so I wouldn't be tempted to buy any. (my sister did pick up two of them)

So here are the swatches of the things I got... from left to right: Hipness Blush, Sweet & Punchy Eyeshadow and Flurry of Fun Lipglass. (the swatch above them all is Vex Eyeshadow which I didn't own and decided to get)

Here are two random things I got while there... Vex Eyeshadow and I needed some more Brush Cleanser :)

So those are the things I got and my feelings on the collection itself. I really think all in all it is a fun and beachy collection with a lot to offer everyone!

This look is so glowy and beachy for the summer time. The coral gives the eyes a pop of colour but the bronze keeps it quite neutral at the same time. The combo of these MAC eyeshadows is amazing. They all have a gold sheen to them that just makes them look blended so easily. I love this look and am for sure going to be sporting it in Mexico (I'll offically be there in 6 days woohoo) and all summer long. Hope you all love it and try it out :D

Tucker's Birthday ~Dog Safe Cupcake Recipe

So this is clearly a different kind of post for me lol!
It was my puppy's 2nd Birthday today so I was tweeting about it all day... he got quite spoiled!!
I happened to mention that I made him Doggy Safe Birthday Cupcakes and had a lot of people ask for the recipe so here it is!!!

Peanut Butter Carrot Cake ~Safe for Dogs

1 cup white or whole wheat flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/4 cup peanut butter
1/4 vegetable oil
1 cup shredded carrots
1 tsp vanilla
1/3 cup honey
1 egg

Mix flour and baking soda together first, then add all remaining ingredients and mix well.

For a cake: Bake at 350F for 40 min in a small cake pan that has be sprayed with a nonstick spray.
For cupcakes: Bake at 350F for 30 min in muffin paper tins or a muffin tray that is sprayed with a nonstick spray.

NOTE: From this recipe I made 2 cupcakes for Tucker (only gave him one for the day and gave the other one to my family's dog) and then added in some chocolate chips and made another 6 for us. To be honest, they didn't taste bad so you can have one with your puppy too!!

Icing:
Nonfat Cream Cheese (room temp)
Cinnamon to taste
1 tsp vanilla
2 tsp honey

Now I know some people will say this isn't healthy for a dog... that is true but honestly... it's ONCE a year I do this. I don't feed him cupcakes for dinner everyday. No one can tell me they don't treat themselves once and a while so I'm going to treat my dog on his bday! Also, all of these ingredients are dog SAFE and that is the important part. (as long as your dog isn't allergic to any of them)

As you can see... Tucker enjoyed his Birthday Cupcake. He was super excited and I think he felt extra special because he got to eat at the table. (he never normally gets to do that)

He licked his plate clean! He didn't even want me to clean the table... he wanted to do that too!

All full and lazy... taking a load off right on the chair after his cupcake!
Happy 2nd Birthday to my fur baby, Tucker! xoxo
