QUESTION ~ HELP

Hey my beauties!!

So I've been playing with the idea of having a blog sale. I have so many items that I love but just don't get the love they deserve and I would love to give them new homes!

Here is the problem I am faced with... in Canada, shipping is stupid! It is over-priced but there is nothing I can do about it. For example, I had a contest on my facebook business page for my past, present and potential clients, which gave away my favourite MAC lipgloss, (Underage!) and get this... it cost me $6 to send it to the other side of the same city I live in... isn't that insane!! I've had people send me stuff from the US and I see it cost them like $2 to ship over the boarder, jealous!

Anyways... that is the only thing holding me back from having a blog sale!
I don't want you all to feel I am ripping you off or taking advantage of you. Believe me, if I end up doing this and you end up getting something of mine sent to you, you will see the proof of shipping cost!

What I think I will need to do is make shipping $8 and and extra $1 per each additional item.
I know, I know... steep right!! I understand, but like I said, there isn't much I can do about it!

So now that you all know what I am faced with, I would love your feedback... should I do a blog sale or is that shipping just a deal breaker!

Honest opinions are appreciated!

  1. I don't think the shipping would stop me from buying something if there was something I really wanted :) As long as the prices aren't too steep for the products!

  2. I hear it's less expensive to send stuff to the US from Canada than it is to send stuff within Canada itself! That is just plain silly. I personally wouldn't hesitate to purchase something from a blog sale if I really wanted it so don't worry.

From my own experience, I charge international people a flat rate for shipping and if it turns out to be less when I actually send their package, I just reimburse them. If it turns out to be more, I send them another invoice. Everyone has seemed to be cool about it if they know the terms before hand :)

  3. I feel your pain :( I sent my aunt (in Vancouver) a small box (tiny, it just held a face serum) and it and the stupid thing cost over $11, I had someone from the US send me a package yesterday and it was the same size, maybe it tad longer and he only paid $2. It doesn't make sense! With rediculous charges like that you'd think the post office could get us our parcels faster!

  4. I think shipping is too much but I am sure some girls out there would pay that much. Not me though.

  6. I agree with the first person that commented. I would pay the shipping prices as long as the prices for the products weren't super steep! (:

  7. I can totally relate, I send people stuff to Canada and it's cheaper to send to the states, which is why it irritates me when us bloggers won't ship to Canada, they don't even understand what we deal with! :)

  10. Will you be shipping to the UK too? If so, I'd love to see a blog sale, and will pay whatever the postage costs.
